Homeschool Happenings (Grades 3 - 8) at Rock Hollow Woods- September 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2021
Homeschool Happenings is a nature-based program that focuses on habitat study combined with social-emotional learning and team building. Students will explore nature and learn about habitats (including their own) while also discovering skills for collaboration, self-love, and personal advocacy.
The group will meet five Wednesday's during the month of September. The afternoon program will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and is offered to students in grades 3 - 8. (There is a morning program for children in grades K-2.)
*There is absolutely flexibility within these parameters for siblings or other personal needs, please reach out with any questions about groups!
The program will be taught by Stephanie Cumens, an Elementary and Special Education teacher with experience teaching children of all abilities both academically and socially. Steph and the children will explore habitats through hikes, observations, discovery, discussion, read alouds, and more. They will practice individual interest-based study by journaling, drawing, and discussing what they learn about animal habitats. They will also relate those discoveries to the habitat they live in themselves; encouraging ways to make their habitat happy, healthy, and facilitate personal growth. Included in this program will also be opportunities for free play and team building in the form of super-mini-challenges that require collaboration to complete.
Participants will need to bring water and always dress for the weather.
We will follow our COVID-19 Prevention Plan. Click for more information.
