September 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th, 2022 from 11:30 a.m - 2:30 p.m.
Homeschool Happenings is a nature-based program that focuses on environmental studies combined with social-emotional learning and team building. Students will explore nature and learn about the changes of the seasons while also discovering skills for collaboration, self-love, and personal advocacy.
The group will meet four Wednesdays during the month of Septembre. The program will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and is offered to students in grades K - 8.
The program will be taught by Heather Hennessey, an Elementary and Special Education teacher with experience teaching children of all abilities both academically and socially. Heather and the children will explore nature through hikes, observations, discovery, discussion, read alouds, and more. They will practice individual interest-based study by journaling, drawing, and discussing what they learn about nature. They will also relate those discoveries to their own lives. Included in this program will also be opportunities for free play and team building in the form of super-mini-challenges that require collaboration to complete.
Participants will need to bring water, packed lunch, and always dress for the weather.
