Homeschool Happenings is a nature-based immersion program. Students will explore nature and learn about the changes of the seasons while also discovering skills for collaboration, problem solving, creativity, communication, and personal advocacy.
The program will be taught by Heather Hennessey, an Elementary and Special Education teacher with experience teaching children of all abilities both academically and socially. Heather will guide the children through the magic of Rock Hollow Woods as they explore and discover owls. Children will learn about these nocturnal animals and have the opportunity to dissect owl pellets.
Children will explore nature through hikes, observations, discovery, discussion, read alouds, and more. They will practice individual interest-based study by journaling, drawing, and discussing what they learn about nature. They will also relate those discoveries to their own lives. Included in this program will also be opportunities for free play and team building in the form of super-mini-challenges that require collaboration to complete.
Participants will need to bring water, snack, and always dress for the weather.
