City Nature Challenge Berks County; Rock Hollow Woods Edition
April 25th, 2025; 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
City Nature Challenge is an annual international event where communities collaborate and compete/connect to view and document the nature all around them. We will be joining the effort in 2025, CNC's 10th anniversary, and we hope YOU will join us at Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center!
If you haven’t already, please download the iNaturalist app to your phone ahead of time and create your own account. (If you have difficulty, we can help you the day of the event.)
We will meet at the McCarney Learning Center at 12:00 p.m. to share a brief presentation about using the iNaturalist app and share our goals for the day/event. Then we will venture out and explore the beauty of Rock Hollow Woods as we capture our observations which will be included in the City Nature Challenge! For those interested, we will meet back in the learning center to review some of the observations that were made during the bioblitz.
Our City Nature Challenge Berks County Goals Include:
- Connecting people to their local nature in urban/metro areas as well as suburban/rural
- Connecting people to each other: building community in-person and online around local nature
- Collecting urban biodiversity data that are available to managers and scientists
- Growing volunteer biodiversity documentation worldwide
- Having fun through friendly competition (and collaboration)!
Pre-registration is required (due to parking limitations)
*Carpooling and ride-sharing is strongly encouraged!
